Parla Privacy Policy
How Parla collects, uses, shares, and deletes information.
Scope and status
Effective August 11, 2026. This notice covers the Parla website and authorized iOS beta. The website does not represent that a public App Store release is already available.
Website information
The website receives ordinary request metadata needed to deliver and secure pages. Its waitlist collects an email address for Parla beta and launch updates. Closed-beta enrollment also collects a contact email, mobile platform, language and proficiency choices, bounded campaign attribution, and—when needed—the Google Account email used for Play Store access. Its support, deletion, and data-request forms collect only the information submitted for those purposes.
The website uses Google Analytics to measure allowlisted page and interaction events and skips browser tracking when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled. Form fields, emails, request descriptions, and conversation content are not analytics properties.
Beta application data
Parla uses Supabase Auth for accounts and can process an email address, account identifier, optional display name and region, learning language and preferences, companion selection, messages and generated replies, corrections, memory facts, progress events, and feedback.
Relationship context is designed to be partitioned by user, companion, relationship, persona version, thread, and generation. One companion must not receive another companion's messages or memory facts.
Subscriptions, voice, persistent vocabulary, data export, and push notifications are not enabled in the current release.
AI and infrastructure providers
With your explicit onboarding consent, relevant messages, profile settings, recent conversation, and memory context are sent through the Parla API to OpenAI to generate replies, corrections, and memory candidates.
Supabase provides account authentication and database storage. Fly.io hosts the API and website. If you opt in, Google Analytics receives allowlisted, content-free product analytics. Sentry receives scrubbed technical diagnostics. Resend delivers website form email. Parla does not send conversation text to Google Analytics or Sentry.
Purposes, choices, and retention
Parla uses application data to provide and secure accounts, generate language practice, preserve requested context, show progress, troubleshoot failures, prevent abuse, and answer support or privacy requests.
Product analytics is optional and can be disabled in Settings. Account and conversation data is retained while the account is active and removed through the deletion flow, subject to limited security, legal, fraud-prevention, and backup retention. Content-free usage and cost records may be retained without an account identifier for financial and operational integrity.
Deletion and requests
Settings → Privacy controls → Delete my Parla data permanently removes the Supabase Auth account and associated profile, conversations, messages, corrections, memory facts, saved phrases, progress, feedback links, and directly identifying analytics records.
A beta enrollment linked to a verified Parla account is deleted with that account. Before account linkage, you may request deletion or opt out by contacting support from the enrolled email address.
Parla queues cleanup requests for applicable service providers. That provider cleanup may take additional time, and the app explains this before and after deletion. The website deletion form is a fallback when app access is unavailable and does not disclose whether a matching account exists.
Security, international processing, and age
Parla uses access controls, encrypted transport, server-side authorization, and content-minimized operational telemetry. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards. Parla is intended for adults age 18 and older and is not directed to children.
Waitlist choices
Waitlist email addresses are stored in the website database so Assertion Labs can send Parla beta and launch updates. Duplicate signups are treated as a single subscription. You may ask us to remove your waitlist email at any time through the support form or contact address below.
Contact
Questions and requests may be submitted through the Parla support pages or sent to hello@assertionlabs.com. Do not send passwords, full payment information, identity documents, or unnecessary conversation content.
